ECAC Announces Fee Freeze for 2010-11
Cape Cod, Mass. - In the ECAC's ongoing efforts to annually contain officiating costs for our member institutions, ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced that officiating bureau fees will not increase in the 2010-11 athletic year and will remain the same as the fees paid during the current 2009-10 year. In light of the projected budget cuts that every athletic department is facing, this is the ECAC's way of demonstrating our assistance and support to the institutions enrolled in our 12 officiating bureaus.
Due to negotiations with the various officiating groups that the ECAC contracts with on an annual basis, the conference was unable to freeze game fees. However, officiating game/contest fees will increase by a modest $5.00 per official in the 2010-11 athletic year, an average of just $2.50 over the past two years. The ECAC was able to freeze mileage fees for the upcoming year.
In addition, the ECAC is freezing membership dues for the 2010-11 academic year, and will freeze delegate registration fees for the annual ECAC Convention and Trade Show.
"These are three steps we can take to assist our entire membership during these difficult economic times," said Keeling. "Our membership depends on us to be a leader in officiating services, and we will continue to do that for them."
The ECAC is grateful to the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association, National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association, Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials Organization and the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials Association for their cooperation and support during this process.
Anyone with questions or concerns on this matter should contact Steve Bamford, ECAC Administrator for Officiating and Special Projects, at sbamford@ecac.org.
